My Journey Creating Cross Stitch

I learned to cross stitch at a very young age. I would sit with my grandmother and stitch the hours away. She would of course have to help me choose a pattern that was within my skill set, loom the cloth for me and help thread the needles with the correct color but over time I began to learn to do these things on my own. I began to select more detailed patterns that required techniques that were new to me like a back stitch, half stitch etc. I bet it took me two times as long as Me-Me but I still would stitch until the pattern was complete and I could put my hand-sewn initials on it  with pride. I have now inherited all of her threads, needles, sewing boxes and more. Among it all I found this. It just begs to be finished, if I remember correctly it was from a train pattern she had. Who knows, one day I might just finish it for her.

While my attentions were focused on learning new artistic techniques the cross stitch world was evolving. By the time I stepped back in there were some amazing new patterns, threads, and even tools to help make designing my own patterns that much easier. I needed to shake off some of my rust which lead me to seek out some great patterns from other designers. As usual I would modify the color selections and sometimes even the color of the cloth just to give the cross stitch my own personal touch. Every time practicing the final step of my hand sewn initials.

I’m looking forward to offering more of my custom designed cross stitch patterns in the near future. I am also available to cross stitch your patterns. I take all types of custom orders, whether its a date or a quote that means something to you. I can come up with a cross stitched based off of your personal design or logo. I still shake a little when I think back to that huge cross stitch I undertook so I will determine on a case by case basis if I am up to the task of your idea but let’s put our heads together and try to come up with your, one of a kind, Homegrown Craft cross stitch design.
